Growing up, my family moved around a lot. We weren’t a military family and we weren’t on the run from the law, my parents just enjoyed moving. So every 3-5 years, we would pack up and head out for the next place/adventure. I HATED it back then, but now I can see the appeal.
My family left Williams, Oregon 14 years ago. Since then, I hadn’t seen my friend Bion and only recently reconnected with him and his sister Sophie via Facebook. When I realized they were both living in Portland, I made sure we had a chance to visit and catchup!
It was great getting to see Bion and Sophie. They told us all about their lives basically from highschool on, filling in the gaps from the last decade and a half. The funny thing was, even though they had both grown up and were very different from the childhood friends I knew back in Williams, they were still the same in little subtle ways. They both had the same mannerisms and ways of talking.
We caught up on so many things… our lives, our family, our old friends, the old stomping grounds. Sophie graciously let us spend the night and take showers in the morning (holy crap… that made for THREE consecutive days worth of sleeping inside and taking hot showers in Portland!). Thanks Sophie and Bion! It was great catching up!
